Slower Stitching

Here are a few photo's from this morning's Patch Piece workshop. Today's session was all about 'the stitch' rather than aiming to make a specific item such as a brooch, for example. Our theme was pattern.
Students spent time learning or refreshing their knowledge of different embroidery stitches before setting to work on their own postcard sized, fabric patch sampler.
Although everybody was free to choose whatever patterned fabric they wished from the materials stash, all gravitated towards this frog-spawn pattern by Kaffe Fasset for Rowan fabrics.
So with our base fabric settled upon, we began using the stitches which had been practised to alter the pattern of the fabric in some way.
Knotting, zigzaging & Lazy Daisy-ing

These Patch Piece workshops are perhaps slower paced than some of the others, allowing you to practice a little more and get to grips with the techniques being discussed. A great way to slow down & unwind.

The next Patch Piece workshop will be on Friday 5th April at Cafe Salvation at the slightly later time of 11.30am - 1.30pm. Places are available.
